Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Axonite Global LLC (“Axonite,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the BitWhittle™ website and app (collectively, the “Services”).

Who we are

BitWhittle™ is a product of Axonite Global LLC. BitWhittle™ is a trademark of Axonite Global LLC.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

BitWhittle™ is designed so photo libraries are processed on your device. We do not require you to upload your photos to our servers to use the core cleanup features of the desktop app.

Diagnostics data

BitWhittle™ keeps a small diagnostics log on your device at all times, in every version of the app, to help explain problems if something goes wrong. There isn't a setting to turn this local logging off. What's optional is sending it to us: nothing in the log is uploaded automatically, and you decide if and when to share it, for example by attaching the file to a support email.

The diagnostics log can include:

The log file is kept small by design, with a fixed size limit; once it fills, the oldest entries are discarded automatically to make room for new ones.

The diagnostics log does not include your photo content, thumbnails, EXIF data, or license keys. Any file or folder paths that appear in the log are replaced with a one-way hashed value before they're written, so the original names and paths cannot be recovered from it. Only the file extension and folder depth are kept.

The install identifier is a random value created the first time you run the app and stored only on your device. It is not tied to your name, email, or any account. You can reset it and delete all local diagnostics logs at any time using the “Clear diagnostics” control in the app's Settings screen.

We only receive diagnostics data if you choose to send it to us, such as by attaching the log file to a support request. When you do, we use it only to help troubleshoot your issue. We do not use diagnostics data for analytics or advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties. Where GDPR applies, our legal basis for processing a diagnostics log you send us is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)); you can withdraw that consent at any time for future submissions by simply not sending further logs, and you can delete logs already stored on your device using the “Clear diagnostics” control described above.

How we use information

We use information to provide and improve the Services, process purchases, respond to requests (including troubleshooting with diagnostics data you choose to share), maintain security, and comply with law.

Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:

International data transfers

Axonite Global LLC is based in the United States. If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another region with data transfer laws, information you send us (for example, a support request or a diagnostics log you choose to share) will be transferred to and processed in the United States by us and by service providers we use, such as our email/support provider. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You may contact us using the details below for more information about these safeguards.

Sharing

We may share information with service providers who help us operate the Services (such as our checkout provider, LemonSqueezy, and our hosting provider, Cloudflare), when required by law, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell your personal information. Diagnostics data stays on your device and is not shared with anyone unless you choose to send it to us; see “Diagnostics data” above.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary to operate the site or that are set by our hosting and security providers. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law. Diagnostics logs live only on your device until you choose to share one with us; you control them directly and can delete them at any time using the “Clear diagnostics” control described above. If you send us a diagnostics log for support, we keep it only as long as needed to resolve your request.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children’s privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your choices and rights

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable law. For diagnostics data specifically, you can reset the install identifier and delete local logs directly in the app at any time, using the “Clear diagnostics” control in Settings, without needing to contact us.

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you also have the right, subject to certain exceptions and limitations under the GDPR, to:

To exercise these rights, email us at support@bitwhittlestudio.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
